Topic: acute pancreatitis
Abstract:
Acute pancreatitis is a common and potentially life-threatening condition characterized by acute inflammation of the pancreas. This presentation provides a detailed exploration of the disease, focusing on its clinical features, pathophysiology, diagnostic challenges, and management strategies. The discussion will highlight the primary causes, including gallstones and alcohol use, as well as less common etiologies such as hypertriglyceridemia and drug-induced pancreatitis. Key aspects of diagnosis, including the role of clinical criteria, laboratory markers, and imaging studies, will be covered. Evidence-based approaches to treatment will be emphasized, including early fluid resuscitation, pain management, nutritional support, and the management of complications such as necrosis and infection. This presentation aims to equip healthcare providers with the knowledge to recognize acute pancreatitis early, stratify its severity, and implement effective interventions to optimize patient outcomes.
