Abstract:
Skin Lesions from plastic surgery prespective.
Skin lesions are a common presentation in general surgery practice, ranging from benign conditions to malignant neoplasms. We aim to provide a comprehensive overview of skin lesions, their diagnosis, and management for general surgery residents.
The lecture will cover the following topics:
* Classification of skin lesions: A systematic approach to classifying skin lesions based on their appearance, texture, and distribution.
* Common benign skin lesions: A detailed discussion of frequently encountered benign lesions.
* Malignant skin lesions: An in-depth exploration of cutaneous malignancies, such as basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma, with emphasis on their clinical features, diagnosis, and staging.
* Diagnostic modalities: A review of essential diagnostic tools for skin lesions, including dermatoscopy, biopsy, and imaging techniques.
* Management of skin lesions: A practical guide to the treatment of various skin lesions, including surgical excision, curettage and cauterization, and non-surgical options like cryotherapy and topical medications.
* Skin cancer screening: Strategies for early detection and prevention of skin cancer, including patient education and risk assessment.
By the end of this lecture, general surgeons will have a solid understanding of the diverse spectrum of skin lesions, their clinical presentation, and appropriate management strategies.
